microscopic wood

We prefer the use of natural wood-based materials. Ecology and aesthetics are among the most coded advantages of wood. Thanks to easy processing, generative processes can be used to achieve new organic forms. By applying algorithms, maximum yield and minimum cross-section of board material can be achieved. Computer automation of machine tools enables fast production of atypical parts. Due to its availability and easy handling, wood is chosen for the application of state-of-the-art architectural foci in architecture around the world (ETH in Zurich, Angewandte in Vienna, ICD in Stuttgart, SCI-Arc in Los Angeles or AA in London).

"Wood is a flexible, strong and yet light material that has good thermal insulation properties, is easy to process, dampens vibrations, is resistant to chemicals, able to crack during changes, is relatively easy to connect and easy to handle. Its properties allow versatile use in various industries from the production of building structures to the exterior to interior furniture designs. Wood is a natural material and is characterized by its design, which ensures aesthetic qualities [Šlezingerová, 2004]."
